Well!
We have officially begun our last week in January! And Valentines Day is right around the corner! Can you believe it?
Please don't forget to begin working on your child's Valentines Day box project. You can decorate any small box that you have around the house (shoe boxes are perfect!) with a Valentines Day theme. Be sure that when you cut out the slot for the valentine cards that you make the slot large enough. Often the children bring cards with candy attached. So a thin slot can be a problem. :) You can begin sending in those boxes on Monday, February 8th.
This week in class we will be learning the following:
Writing - Word Choice/Poetry
Social Studies/Science - Landforms
Math - Review/CBA
Spelling - ("-ea" & "st-" words) seal, cheat, mean, start, state, stamp, many, from, came
And lastly, each class has a class performance in one of our many Robertson Roundup Assemblies during the year and ours is coming up the end of February. Be on the lookout for future communication regarding that performance. :)
Have a wonderful week!

It's a girl :)
As I am sure your kiddos have told you, my husband and I will be expecting a baby in June and Friday we found out they believe that sweet little one will be a girl. :)My son was not exactly excited about getting a sister instead of a brother...but he is warming up to it. Personally, I was just super excited to be able to buy an outfit that wasn't green or yellow!!!! :)
I did want to take a moment, though, and thank you so much for your understanding. Currently I have 1-2 appointments during the month and know that when the school year begins coming to a close they will possibly become more frequent. The kids have been so flexible and I know they must get that from you! :)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Green

Pajama Day!
We are so excited to announce that our class has filled up our "Kindness Jar" by modeling good behavior around the school and we are ready to celebrate! :)
Tomorrow your child may come to school in his/her pajamas. Slippers are permissible as well, but please have your child wear regular shoes to school and send the slippers in his/her backpack.
In the aftenoon we will get to watch a video and have a special snack as well! It should be a great day!

January 11-14
Well, we have alot of things going on this week!
First of all, here is the information we will be covering in class during the week of January 11-14:
Writing: Word Choice
Spelling: No spelling list - CogAT will be administered during our normal spelling instructional block
Math: Geometric Shapes/CBA 4
Science: Rocks & Soil
Social Studies: Martin Luther King Jr.
Secondly, this week we will be administering the CogAT on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This test measures both general and specific cognitive abilities, but don't worry. :) There's nothing to study for! This test measures developed abilities and the results will reflect the overall efficiency of cognitive processes and strategies that enable students to learn new tasks or solve problems...especially in the absence of direct instruction. I will be reading this test aloud to all of the students and we will be pacing the test so that we progress from test item to test item as a group so that no child feels rushed to answer quickly.
If you have any questions regarding this test, though, please feel free to contact our Campus Instructional Support Facilitator Karen Kidd. She can be reached by e-mail at kiddk@friscoisd.org or by phone at (469) 633-3680 ext. #53680.
Next, if you haven't already sent a toy in from home, don't forget they are due tomorrow. :) We are studying geometric shapes this week and would love to get your help! Please send in a toy from home that includes as many shapes as possible. (for example - a toy car has wheels that are round and the body of the car is a rectangle) Just be sure the toy will fit in a small brown lunch sack.
And lastly, don't forget that there is no school this Friday, January 15th or on Monday, January 18th so enjoy the long weekend with your kiddos! :)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Green
